Men and women, like many things in life, approach wine in a different way. It seems that the two sexes take different approaches to appreciating what’s in their glass.
Jeff Heinrich observed that there is a noticeable difference in how men and women in general enjoy and approach wine.
He wrote: “There’s a fundamental difference between the two sexes when it comes to the pleasures of Bacchus: Men are still the prime consumers and collectors of expensive wines. They subscribe to rate-the-wine journals like Wine Spectator and The Wine Advocate, order high-end vino in restaurants, call themselves connoisseurs, which is a nice word for snob.
As far as wine goes, the contrast is plain. A lot of women live for the moment, for what can be consumed now, for what’s good even if it’s cheap, and that’s the way I think it should be. A lot of men, on the other hand, like to hold on to compare and contrast, seek the elusive perfect bottle and show it off when they find it.” Read more
