I like my cocktails and I usually go for the sweeter stuff. But last night  I was pleasantly  surprised with the tried and trusted  Bloody Mary cocktail. I thought this is a time killing airplane drink or a remedy for a hangover but wow this drink is really fantastic.

Have you ever just lost it completely? Here are a few tips to keep your cool when counting to 10 no longer works. Hope it works.

Experiencing bouts of anger is normal, but learning to deal with it in a positive way, is vital. Here are a few tips from an article I read.

1. Distance yourself. Get space and take a timeout from the person or circumstance that is fuelling your frustration. Sometimes a break is all that is required as it gives you an opportunity to think before you act and it gives you time to rationalize the situation so when the time is right, you can deal with it better.

2. Be non-confrontational. Go ahead and express your feelings constructively. It may be hard at first, but bear in mind that an unnecessary outburst can only make your situation worse.

3. Think before you speak. When we’re angry, it’s easy to say things – often on impulse – that we don’t actually mean. Once you’re calm, rather grab a pen and paper and jot down everything you want to say first.

4. Avoid resentment. Begrudging will only make dealing with issues more difficult. Learn to forgive. It’s an instant mood-enhancer.

5. Laugh about it. Seriously. Making light of a trivial situation will ease your tension and release pent-up stress. Also, try to avoid sarcasm and cynicism when talking about what bothers you.  It’s petty and doesn’t help your cause.

PS. What makes you really mad?

Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore are looking to shed off the excess pounds they have, and for that purpose they are trying right now the Master Cleanse diet.

How do we know that? Thanks to a series of Twitter posts by the couple

This diet, based on drinks made from lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper, has been used by people looking to lose weight with success, but it is not an easy feat to complete the whole regime. Just ask Ashton who tweeted:

“9 hrs into the master cleanse. I want a steak, a beer, and a blow-pop. Hmmm this is gonna be rough,”

I’m too grumpy when on a diet to communicate with the world by Tweeting etc. You are actually thinking more about the hell you are putting yourself through. So good for them…but I still think they really don’t need a diet.

For the brave ones here is a link to the Master Cleanse Diet

The World Cup is over and life goes back to normal. But who says life must be boring. I love a cocktail and a Mojito is just the drink to keep the spirits up. Here is easy Mojito recipe to keep the good times rolling.

Like a great party, this cool cocktail gets sweeter the longer it lasts

Serves 1

  • 2 tsp sugar (white or brown, depending on your preference. Brown tends to work well with darker spirits)
  • ½ a fresh lime chopped into quarters
  • 6-8 fresh mint leaves
  • Crushed ice (put ice in a tea towel and smash it with a rolling pin)
  • 2 measures of rum
  • Soda to top

  • 1. Muddle sugar and limes in a Collins glass or a highball, using the end of a rolling pin to squeeze out the juice and start to dissolve sugar.
  • 2. Add mint and muddle a little more.
  • 3. Fill the glass with crushed or cracked ice. Add the rum and stir the ingredients to equally distribute flavour.
  • 4. Top with soda and a little more crushed ice to garnish.

People who drink red wine may be helping to reduce their risk of blindness thanks to a naturally-occurring ingredient in the drink, a new study has suggested.

Research carried out by experts at  an American  university shows that resveratrol, which is found in red wine, grapes, blueberries, peanuts and other plants, stops out-of-control blood vessel growth in the eye.

Does this mean that if your eyesight is becoming weak you must drink more?… I don’t think so but I’ll raise my glass to red wine and seeing things clearly.
